Our infrastructure. our services.
My office is committed to providing high-quality city services across the ward in an equitable manner.
In my first term, my office prioritized residential and arterial street and sidewalk resurfacing, and city service modernization for all of our neighborhoods.
To ensure quality, I implemented an additional system to track service requests that often get lost in the City’s 311 system. And in tandem with local civic organizations, I worked to identify streets to repave, curbs and gutters to repair, sewers to be cleaned, and beautification projects to revitalize our neighborhoods.
I also introduced the Participatory Budgeting Process in the 39th Ward: a democratic process where ward residents decide how to spend part of the public infrastructure budget. For the past three years, I have set aside $500,000 each year for the process. Community members turn ideas into proposals that are then voted on by anyone living in the ward who is 14 years old or older. Some winning projects from past years are pictured above and include: Main Street Beautification on Lawrence, Bryn Mawr, and Devon, the nature play space at Little Gompers Park, the train connection between Gompers and Eugene, tennis court rehabs, and sidewalk replacements.
